Tunes Day, Tuesday!

(It is really Wednesday but let's pretend I posted this yesterday)

Introducing: Twenty Years of triple j's Hottest 100

triple j is not your average radio station. Not only are they on the radio, they have a tv program  (triple j tv), magazine (jmag) and are on-line (www.triplej.net.au)
"You should know that triple j is completely AD-FREE. We ain’t pimpin’ no-one’s shit (unless it’s our own), no matter what the price." This is just another example why triple j are different from the other commercial radio stations.

The Hottest 100 started in 1993 and has been going strong ever since.
This year bought us 20 years of the Hottest 100 and triple j decided it would be a good idea to let the public vote for their favourite 20 songs from the last 20 years.
It was broadcasted live in two sections, 100-50 on Saturday and 50-1 on Sunday.
The list features artists such as Blink-182, The Cat Empire, Silverchair, Arctic Monkeys, Daft Punk, Nirvana, Radiohead and Gotye but the number 1 spot was taken by Oasis' Wonderwall.

Tunes Day, Tuesday

Introducing: Bleeding Knees Club

Bleeding Knees Club are an indie surf-punk duo (now trio) from Australia. Having only formed in 2010, they have played the stages of British music festivals the Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City and have toured with the Vines, all within the first two years of formation. After releasing the Virginity EP, they band was named one of NME's 50 Best New Bands of 2011. Between touring, they released their first album, Nothing To Do, in 2012.
Bleeding Knees Club have only just recently released a new song Feel and are currently touring Australia. Their live shows are always bound to cause chaos. They have been banned from a venue in Adelaide, ripped down two disco balls (so far from the current tour) and always cause a bit of blood.

Nonetheless, these crazy boys are all bout having fun and sharing rad music.

New Beginnings...Tunes Day, Tuesdays!

Ok so I am planning on posing every Tuesday about music that I discover(ed) and possibly Friday, Saturday or Sundays with other awesome things :)

Tunes Day, Tuesday

Introducing: Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós are a band from Iceland. They are a *post-rock band with melodic, classical, experimental, and minimalist elements. The band is known for its ethereal sound and lead singer Jónsi’s falsetto voice. Sigur Rós means Victory Rose, named after Jonsi's little sister. *https://www.facebook.com/sigurros/info

When I heard one of their songs for the first time I was blown away! I had never heard anything like it before. Although I don't understand the lyrics, I can't help but be amazed. The songs have a relaxing and dreamlike feel to them and I just fell in love with it.

Long time no see...

So I have realised it has been over a month since I have posted anything...ooops!

So it is currently Mad March and I kicked it off by seeing Neil Finn and Paul Kelly (and might I add, it was free) at the opening of Adelaide Festival. I also went to WOMADelaide on Friday night and saw The Cat Empire who were so amazing it blew my mind! A whole bunch of people from my school ended up being there and we were in the first two rows!!

My photo

I wish I could have gone all four days to Womad but I am still happy I went Friday! My legs are still sore though from it and it is painful to walk but it was worth it :)

Why hello there

Well I haven't posted anything for a while mainly because I haven't been up to much these past few weeks even though it was the end of the holidays.
That has now brought through me first week of year 11! I am so happy with my lessons but I am bummed out that I didn't get to do fashion because it clashed with music. However, I still get to do photography, 2 different lessons of music this semester and 3 next semester, art next semester and of course english and maths.

Here is a few pictures from my instagram (chelsealikesyoursmile):
Bike riding around the suburbs with my brother
Fortune cookie for my picnic in town with some friends
Book on Hollywood films between 1930 and 1990
Handmade Mexican Day Of The Dead pillow
Adventure Time drawing for my maths book
Homemade badges from the Indie Rock Button Factory by Yellow Bird Project
Hopefully I wont be gone for as long this time! See you soon xx

Summer Hits

Well it sure is summer with this scorching heat! Since it has been way too hot for my liking I decided to make a summer playlist and what is better then music to keep you going through the heat. My playlist includes artists such as:
The Wombats - Summer Hit
The Living End - Heatwave
Loon Lake - In The Summer
Ball Park Music - It's Nice To Be Alive
The Cat Empire - Days Like These, Cities, Til The Ocean Takes Us All, Sly
Regina Spektor - Summer In The City
Bleeding Knees Club - Girls Can Do Anything, Beach Slut, Who Are You
Amy Meredith - FUN
Looking at the playlist I have noticed at least half the tunes are by Australian artists...

I hope all fellow Australians are keeping cool and go grab yourself a lemonade Icy Pole haha
